How does this work?
We'll draw whatever kind of comic or illustration you want, in whatever style you want, whether it's for a gift, for your business, or just for yourself. Easy ordering, flat rates, and no hassle! Once we receive your comic concept, I'll contact you to set a deadline, gather photos, and make payment arrangements. As soon as we receive your payment, we'll start drawing your comic.

What information do you need from me?
You can give us as much or as little information as you want. Some folks send us a full script. Others just tell us roughly what they're looking for, and let us be creative! Send photos, notes, whatever you want and we can work from it. We can draw anyone you want anyway you want into a comic book.

How many frames will fit on a page?
We will draw up to 5 simple panels per page, or one big beautiful illustration.

How long will this take?
Let us know when you need it, and we'll work it out. But the longer you give us, the better the comic will turn out. Generally we can produce 2 complete pages in 7 business days.

Our track record:
This year we created over 300 pages of comic book art that was in fact published. In 2010..300 pages of published art. IN 2011 around 200. And...we can back up these numbers. We don't talk about production--we produce. Not many studios can boast those kind of numbers. Most studios are lucky to produce 20 pages a year.

What if I want a printed book?
We are not printers but create print ready files. These files will be sent to you and you can take them anywhere and print them!
After we create your original comic book art we produce for you a high resolution set of color files that can be sent or brought by hand, to any printer and printed into a book or posters or whatever you want. We currently suggest to use a local printer for a small number of pages. It is cost effective and local printers are fast. If you want to produce a compete book and want prints of that book we can suggest a comic book printer for your book and that cost is between you and the printer. To create a print ready book (a file is produced of your comic pages that meets the specs of your printer) for a book, from your comic pages, is a fee of $25.00.

What if I want a poster print?
After we create your original comic book art you can take that digital file and make a poster anywhere!. The digital file can print into a poster at any local print shop. Kinko's or any local print shop can and will do it and charge depending on the size.. How much does it cost for a poster print of a single page? It all depends on what your local printer will charge you.

What is the deal with rights?
Each custom comic book comes with the full, nonexclusive rights to do whatever you want with it, even if you make a billion dollars off of it. You can make copies, post it online, sell it to a major publisher, whatever you like. We reserve the right to use the comic in our portfolios to show off our work. If you're interested in exclusive rights, just ask! No need to worry if we're working with your scripts or original characters, we make no claim to them!

Do I get to approve each stage of the process?
The production process of custom comics are set up to get work done fast, and cheap. This means that writing, penciling, and inking are done all in one go. If you want to okay a script or a character sketch before we start however, we can do that. Just let us know up front. We will make certain that the comic is of high quality, and fits all of the parameters we discussed prior to starting work. The finished product is sent "as-is". If there is a mistake, or a spelling error, we will make quick fixes, but if you want changes to the comic that will require redrawing or anything, we will have to negotiate a fair fee to do the extra work. Changes after work has begun will result in an additional fee.

What if I'm interested in something that isn't mentioned or offered here?
Just e-mail, and we'll work it out! Whether you're looking for logos, flyers, brochures, coloring books, children's books, animation, music.... Really, if you are seeking out any creative endeavor chances are we can do it, or can find someone who can!

A QUESTION: "Dan can you tell me again..how the process of making my book will actually work?"

Yes I can..here goes..

I can usually do about 4 pages a week if nothing else is going on. So that is how long it might take to make 4 pages.

The process: you tell me or write me your story and all the details. You send photos of people and anything you want included. Catch phrases people say, places, special moments, I can include them all.

After we define the story I think about it for 2 days usually then I draw a blueprint of the story. A rough of the story. Depending on the length and so on, depends on the pace of the tale. I am very good at this stage of the concept, which is the actually staging of the story and creating the dialogue. Breaking it down into a panel to panel story that makes sense and is fun to read.

I then draw and ink and letter page one. I then send you page one to look at.
If you are happy with what we have, I complete the job. I draw and color and complete the pages, no matter how many there may be in the project. I do not send out any more check pages.

The thing to consider as a client, is does my art style serve your story? You can determine this by looking at the art on my websites. That is my style. If that works for you, you will be happy with the final product.

I have never had a rejection, but it could happen. What happens if you are not happy with page one? I have to imagine that it could happen.
There is a fee of $125 for one days work for writing and creating the story, the breakdown work, and the rest of the money, is refunded. The breakdowns and page one remains my property. That is fair for everyone. So that is what would happen if page one was something you did not love and approve and I did not complete the project.

I draw comics for people full time. I lavish time and energy on the comics because I love to make them. Again, if you like my art style, you will like what I potentially can create for you.

Changes. Sometimes after the drawing is created people desire changes to the art. Changes are possible but there is an hourly fee to make changes of $25 an hour. The best advice is to have your ideas in place before the final drawing is created. Yes, changes are possible but they cost time and money.

I charge $25 to create a print ready, comic book from your completed art, if you want me to do that. Or I simply give you a digital file (of each complete page), at no cost, that you can take to any printer and print the comic yourself. But if you want it bound into a real comic book, I can help do that. What I would do is set it up all the art pages, into book form. I would then hand you back that print ready PDF and or send it to your printer. That PDF would go to a printer, who would then print the book for you. I have several printers I use for this purpose. They use a million dollar giant press to make the books. Copies of your color book are about $5.00 a unit. About half my clients turn their art into printed books.

“How long does it take?”…Here is the answer: usually a minimum of five days for 1-2 panels, as follows:

There are three steps:

Step 1: Layout draft – I do a pencil layout of each panel, which will be sent to you to approve. This penciling takes one day per panel. If you want some changes made to the layout or details added, then you tell me at this step, and we repeat Step 1 until you are happy with it. There are two rounds  of changes/additions allowed for free, and for each round in which I have to make such changes and additions it adds a day per panel. After the first two rounds of changes/additions there is a $25 charge for each extra round of further changes/additions.

Step 2: Ink – I do each panel over again in ink. This makes the panel layout permanent, and takes a half day per panel. I send you a scan of the inked image, which matches the last pencil layout you approved. If you request changes/additions at this Step then it costs an extra $50 because I have to go back to Step 1 and draw a new pencil panel.

Step 3: Color, final detail and digitizing – this step finishes the piece, which I then render in a digital format fit for you to take to a printer to have the poster printed in the size that you want, and send you a link to download it for printing.

Printing: I do not do final printing, but send you to professional printers online that have previously printed my artwork successfully. I make no money from the printing step at all and do not have control over that cost, although I can give you general estimates. Once you have the digital version you can make as many copies as you like and you own the image.

Altogether, if I draw a panel on day 1 and you approve it promptly, and I do the ink on day 2 and you approve, then I do the Final step on day 3 and send to you. I can do this at a rate of 2 panels. If the number of panels increases, or you ask for changes/additions then add a day for each round of this.

Altogether, it usually takes a minimum of five days to do 2 panels through completion, assuming prompt replies from you and no changes after Stage 1. More panels adds more work at the beginning in step 1, at a rate of one additional day per two panels, so four panels takes a minimum of six days,  and 6 panels a minimum of eight, etc.  “Rush” jobs that need to be completed faster than this require +50% markup and depend upon my schedule at the time.
